This pirate got his booty.
The porch pirate who was caught on camera by Ring's doorbell camera after stealing packages from a New Jersey home returned to the victim's residence days later and complained about the video being posted on the internet.
“You can't make something like this up,” the Gloucester County Sheriff's Office said in a Facebook post Wednesday, along with video and photos of the wild encounter.
Police say the bizarre footage shows two masked men wearing hoodies running up to a home in Sicklerville just after 6:30 p.m. on Dec. 9. One of the suspects bent over and grabbed the Amazon package, while the other bent down, flashed his clothes at the camera from behind, and twisted before both men fled.
Police said the stolen luggage included $74 worth of glasses and baby supplies.
Hoping to identify the sticky robbers, the resident posted the footage on the Ring Neighbors app, prompting one of the masked suspects to return to his home two days later.
According to the footage, the alleged porch pirate, wearing a sweatshirt with “Hollywood” written on the hem, ran up to the camera and displayed the original theft video on the screen.
“Hey, it's not cool, come on, it's not cool,” the suspect said sheepishly.
“That's my a on the internet.”
The suspect returned to the front stoop several minutes later with one of the stolen glasses (which was broken) and placed it in front of the home before fleeing the area again.
“Oh, I was going to give this back,” the suspected thief told the camera, according to the video.
Gloucester County Police are asking for help identifying the two people seen in the video.
