New York Republican Party Targets Jewish Voters
The New York Republican Party has kicked off an advertising initiative aimed at attracting Jewish voters. In the process, they are accusing Democrats, including Mayor Zoran Mamdani, of supporting or tolerating anti-Semitic sentiments.
This ad campaign is appearing in Jewish media and on social media platforms centered around Jewish communities. It features an open letter from Ed Cox, the state Republican Party Chairman, directed “to our Jewish neighbors and fellow New Yorkers.”
“The New York State Republican Party stands with you. Unequivocal,” Cox states in the letter.
“We consider Israel a remarkable example of democracy, a crucial ally for the United States, and a testament that the ancient bond between the Jewish people and their land is still very much alive,” the letter continues.
The party expresses a strong opposition to any form of anti-Semitism, highlighting the significance of Jewish teachings to the core values of Western civilization.
Following this, Cox takes aim at Mamdani and other Democratic leaders, suggesting that they are, at best, enabling anti-Semitism.
“It’s disheartening to see the Democratic Party, which professes to advocate for marginalized groups, gradually embracing one of the oldest hatreds: anti-Semitism,” he writes.
Cox specifically critiques Mamdani’s remark labeling AIPAC and its members as “monsters,” stating that such comments have no appropriate place in American politics.
“This is anti-Semitism at its worst,” he laments.
Moreover, Cox criticizes Governor Kathy Hochul and Senate Democratic Minority Leader Chuck Schumer for backing Mamdani’s campaign, implying they are complacent in the matter.
“We stand with patriotic Americans at AIPAC who bolster the U.S.-Israel bond and are combating the anti-Semitism that the Mayor seems to endorse,” Cox adds in his letter.
He notes a significant departure of Jewish voters from the Democratic Party, claiming they are feeling unwelcome.
“From Maine to Michigan to New Jersey, and right here in New York, you’re being told you’re no longer esteemed. The New York Republican Party values you and welcomes you into our fold. You have a home with us,” he reassures.
Mamdani and his allies from the Democratic Socialists of America have voiced strong criticisms against Israel. Remarkably, the mayor backs a boycott, divestment, and sanctions (BDS) movement against the Israeli state, which organizations like the Anti-Defamation League have labeled as a form of anti-Semitism.
Compounding the issue, three House candidates supported by Mamdani in the recent Democratic primaries—Daliaza Avila Chevalier, Claire Valdez, and Brad Lander—have also been outspoken critics of Israel, condemning its actions in Gaza.
While Mamdani and others maintain they are pro-Palestinian rather than anti-Semitic, critics argue that the mayor’s stance on Israel’s existence as a Jewish state reveals a deeper conflict.
