New York’s Trump Prosecution ‘Depriving’ Voters Access to a Presidential Candidate

Speaking on Fox Business Network’s “Mornings with Maria” on Tuesday, Missouri Attorney General Andrew Bailey spoke about his state’s lawsuit against New York for its “unconstitutional legal challenge” to the prosecution of former President Donald Trump.

Bailey said New York’s actions have denied Missourians access to presidential candidates.

“Missouri has a sovereign interest in participating in the presidential election on an equal footing with other states. But what’s happening here is one state’s corrupt prosecutors and judicial system taking a presidential candidate off the ballot, putting him in court, subjecting him to prison and other draconian conditions that could remove him from the ballot, and silencing him with unconstitutional gag orders,” Bailey explained. “This deprives Missourians and all voters of access to our presidential candidates. That’s not how the system works. We cannot allow corrupt prosecutors in New York to essentially undermine the integrity of our elections.”

“That’s why I’m fighting for the sovereignty of Missouri,” he continued, “the right of Missouri voters to be heard and have access to presidential candidates, and the United States Supreme Court has an established way of resolving these disputes. It’s in Article III, Section 2 of the United States Constitution. Disputes between states are matters of original jurisdiction of the United States Supreme Court. Right now, Missouri is in a big problem with the state of New York.”
