Joy Behar Surprises Everyone with Support for J.D. Vance’s Presidential Bid
In an unexpected twist, Joy Behar might have encouraged Vice President J.D. Vance to consider a run for the presidency. During a diverse interview on Wednesday with the ladies of “The View,” Vance faced questions about his various political views.
Behar later expressed that she sensed “good vibes” from Vance for a Republican and recognized his capacity for “intelligence,” deeming him an “interesting” contender for the presidential race. She shared these insights during a podcast segment called Behind the Table.
Brian Teta, the executive producer of the show, prompted Behar to elaborate on her off-camera advice to Vance regarding running for president, but she didn’t refute his claim.
“Locally, I’m okay being a Republican, as it requires a certain level of discipline. However, on a national scale, I prefer candidates with compassion, and I believe those are more often Democrats,” Behar asserted.
“They genuinely care for the underprivileged. They are genuinely helping people,” she continued. “The Republican focus tends to be on tax cuts for affluent individuals, which is why I don’t identify as a Republican.”
Teta noted that Vance felt more anxious about his appearance on “The View” than about participating in the upcoming vice presidential debate with Governor Tim Walz. Behar also had positive remarks about Vance.
“I don’t think he’s a bad person. If he were to compete against someone like California’s Governor Gavin Newsom, it could lead to an intriguing conversation between two intelligent individuals,” she added.
A video capturing this surprising interaction has circulated on social media, drawing hundreds of thousands of views.
Vance even referenced their unlikely camaraderie during a White House press briefing on Thursday while discussing a peace deal with Iran.
“I’ve encountered some progressive backlash, questioning my experience in high-stakes negotiations,” Vance remarked on stage. “But I’d argue that just two days ago, I spent more than an hour on ‘The View.’ So, I’ve genuinely garnered experience in challenging negotiations. Joy Behar is tougher than the Iranians, and now we’re best friends, so this will be a beneficial alliance.”
