It’s terrifying.
While working to repair a water main in the nation’s capital, Albany Water Department workers came across a clogged pipe that turned out to be a 14-foot-long boa constrictor that had been living inside the pipe. Local authorities say.
Albany Water’s Facebook page said crews were repairing a 48-inch water main in the Tivoli Reserve on Friday when they were surprised by the slithering intruder.
News of the snake’s appearance was merely a footnote in officials’ updates on the progress of the restoration.
“In other news: On Friday, while responding to repairs to the main breach, crews encountered a 14-foot boa constrictor that came onto the scene from the woods,” the post read.
The city has asked the state Department of Environmental Conservation to remove the animal.
The Albany Water Department said the incident will not affect the city’s water supply.
