NYC caregiver Igna Bearden accused of placing dead elderly roommate inside garbage bag, claiming she had lice: sources

A Bronx caregiver who allegedly placed her dead 70-year-old roommate in a garbage bag instead of calling 911 when she discovered him claimed she did it because the woman had lice, police and sources said. .

Inga Bearden, 53, was arrested Friday in the death of a woman she was caring for inside a luxury Bronx apartment she shared with Bearden’s two teenage children, police and law enforcement officials said. In connection with this, he was charged with concealing a corpse.

Sources said the 70-year-old man, identified as Margie Ann William Collins, took a long shower Thursday and then ran into her side of the living room, which she and Bearden were using as a shared bedroom. It is said that he sat down.

When Bearden went to check on William Collins, she was dead.

The manager then called her 50-year-old husband, who did not live in the apartment, and he allegedly helped Bearden put William Collins’ body into a black garbage bag, police said.

Police said Margie Ann Williams-Collins’ family placed her body in a garbage bag and placed it on a bed in the Bronx.

Officials said Bearden told investigators that Williams-Collins had lice and that she put him in her bag because she was concerned the lice would spread.

Sources said Williams-Collins’ 24-year-old stepdaughter called 911 to report the death.

The cause of the 70-year-old man’s death is still under investigation. Bearden told police Williams-Collins was known to ingest packets of silica gel, a non-toxic desiccant that is usually found in shoe boxes.
