Tragic Workplace Accident at Ohio Ford Plant
This week, a tragic incident at a Ford factory in Ohio resulted in the death of an employee who was crushed by a faulty industrial machine.
The accident happened around 9:45 a.m. on Monday at Ford’s Sharonville plant on East Sharon Road. Authorities were summoned to the scene following reports of a workplace mishap.
Upon arrival, emergency responders found a press machine that had switched on unexpectedly during routine maintenance, trapping workers. They managed to extract the employee before providing life-saving measures and transporting him to Bethesda North Hospital.
Sadly, he was pronounced dead at the hospital shortly after arrival.
The Hamilton County Coroner’s Office later identified the victim as 61-year-old Gregory Knopp. Sharonville Police remarked that multiple witnesses were present, and they are treating it as an industrial accident.
The investigation into the incident is ongoing, involving the Hamilton County Coroner’s Office, OSHA, and management from Ford Motor Company.
A spokesperson for Ford described the event as a “tragic incident” and expressed condolences to Knopp’s family. They mentioned ongoing support for the family and available counseling services for employees. “Safety is our top priority,” the spokesperson added, assuring that they are looking into the circumstances surrounding the accident and thanking first responders for their efforts.
Official responses from Ford Motor Co. and the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office have yet to be made.
