Cincinnati Man Charged with Threats Against ICE Agents
A man from Cincinnati, Ohio, has been charged with making violent threats against immigration and customs enforcement (ICE) agents. This development was reported by federal officials recently.
The suspect, identified as Anthony Kelly, was detained by federal authorities. A social media post from Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security, Tricia McLaughlin, revealed a message Kelly allegedly shared. One of the posts read, “Thank you for giving people permission to film #gestapedos #tomhoman.”
Another post appeared to be a threatening message directed at DHS Chief Christa Noem. McLaughlin’s post stated: “Anthony Kelly of Cincinnati, Ohio has gained federal custody for committing a terrorist threat against ICE agents. Kelly faces federal accusations for threatening to assault, lure and kill U.S. officials.”
During the investigation, authorities discovered a firearm and ammunition at Kelly’s residence. McLaughlin emphasized that such threats are intolerable and expressed gratitude to law enforcement agencies for their efforts.
Reports indicate that Kelly is a self-described Democratic political consultant, and he was allegedly involved in discussions about targeting ICE agents, even referencing a shooting in Los Angeles and California.
In a related incident, a man from Jamestown, New York, was also accused of threatening an ICE agent and his child. Federal prosecutors arrested Matthew White, 43, for making a threat that suggested multiple murders against ICE agents through a social media post.
According to data from DHS, there has been a reported 500% increase in attacks as ICE agents continue their work to detain illegal immigrants across the United States.
