Recall of Moringa Supplements Due to Salmonella Risk
Organic moringa supplements sold on platforms like Amazon, Walmart, Target, and TikTok Shop are being recalled nationwide due to possible Salmonella contamination. This action follows a voluntary recall by suppliers of raw organic moringa ingredients.
Total Nutrition Inc., based in New York, has recalled two of its TNVitamins organic moringa products. Fortunately, there have been no reported illnesses linked to this recall, according to the company.
The specific products affected are TNVitamins 100% Organic Moringa 1,200 mg Capsules (Product Number AB9917, Lot 2800, Best Before Date February 2028) and TNVitamins 100% Organic Moringa Powder (Product Number AB9904, Lot 2782, Best Before Date May 2028).
These supplements were distributed throughout the country via Amazon, Walmart, Target, TikTok Shop, and the company’s own website.
Salmonella is a serious concern; it can lead to severe infections, particularly in vulnerable groups like young children, elderly individuals, and those with weakened immune systems. For healthy individuals, the symptoms may include fever, diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and abdominal pain. In rare instances, the infection can escalate and spread into the bloodstream, resulting in more serious health complications.
Consumers are advised to refrain from consuming any of the recalled products and to dispose of them immediately. However, if a product’s lot number does not match those listed in the recall, that product is not affected.
The TNVitamins moringa capsules are packaged in a white bottle containing 90 clear capsules of green organic moringa powder. The moringa powder itself comes in a 96-gram white HDPE bottle.
