Palmeiras Fans Take Over American Dream Mall

On Sunday, fans of Palmeiras gathered at the American Dream Mall in anticipation of their first match at the FIFA Club World Cup, which was scheduled to take place across the parking lot at MetLife Stadium.

Social media buzzed with lively supporters from Brazil, who were seen chanting in the mall’s food court, spanning across three levels. They waved flags adorned with the Palmeiras logo and colors, creating a vibrant atmosphere.

A second video shared on Reddit captured the chants resonating throughout the food court, showing a different perspective from a lower level. It was amusing to see confused shoppers navigating through the celebratory scene.

This isn’t the first time fans have turned a well-known location in the New York/New Jersey area into a cheering zone. Just the night before, Palmeiras supporters had filled Times Square, waving flags and chanting to rally behind their team.

Palmeiras ultimately faced Porto in a scoreless draw at MetLife Stadium. The energy from the Brazilian fans was palpable in the stands, where a massive banner was held high, and many flags waved vigorously in one end zone.

Local hopes are running high for an entertaining showing at the Club World Cup, especially with the countdown to the World Cup in the U.S. next year. New Jersey Governor Phil Murphy recently estimated that the match between Porto and Palmeiras would draw between 40,000 and 50,000 attendees.

MetLife Stadium is set to host nine matches for the Club World Cup, including the semi-finals and the grand final. Interestingly, it’ll also be the stage for the final match of the 2026 World Cup.
