A North Carolina pastor has become a hot topic on social media for slamming the Bible, which supports President Donald Trump’s “God Bless America.”
In March, President Trump began promoting the “God Bless the USA” Bible for $60. The Bible includes the United States Constitution, the Bill of Rights, the Declaration of Independence, the Pledge of Allegiance, and the chorus of Lee Greenwood’s song “God Bless the USA.” The Bible uses the King James Version.
The Rev. Laurent Livingston of Charlotte’s Central Church slammed the “disgusting” and “blasphemous” Bible in a sermon this month.
Livingston used the Trump Bible as a negative example for Christians who believe that political involvement is a “spiritual responsibility,” and President Trump in teaching the importance of prayer and Bible reading in the Christian life. Cited scripture in support.
“When you don’t read or pray, you say, ‘Wow, there’s a Bible published with a Constitution and a Bill of Rights! Isn’t that great?!’ No, no, that’s blasphemy! Livingston explained.
The pastor said there is nothing in the Trump Bible that is “encouraging” because the gospel of Jesus Christ is “not the American gospel.”
Professor Livingstone further said that the problem with the Bible is that its creators took a human-focused man-made text and spliced it with the God-focused “Word of God.”
“Now you can be angry if you want, but I want to tell you something: If you take pride in things like that, you don’t have a prayer life.” added Livingston. “If you are proud of such political confusion, you do not know what the Word of God says.”

But don’t get me wrong. Livingston is not a liberal.
In fact, just before condemning the Bible, which President Trump championed, Livingston condemned the LGBTQ movement and abortion as antithetical to the Christian life.
Meanwhile, Livingston is not the first Christian to express concerns about the Bible’s support for President Trump.
Andrew Walker, a professor at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, said: I then wrote an essay President Trump has started promoting that the Bible should never have been written.
“Frankly, a Bible like this should never have been made,” Walker said. “Trump’s patriotic Bible peddling is a contraption of a folk religion. Even if such a Bible is now a well-worn contraption, it is of no use to Christians. would be wise to resist this syncretistic ploy to conflate church and state.
