Former Rhode Island Congressman Patrick Kennedy (Democrat) has endorsed President Joe Biden in the upcoming 2024 presidential election over his cousin, independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr.
During an interview with CNN Trade Union Statusson of former Massachusetts Senator Ted Kennedy (Democrat) and former member of the House of Representatives. Explained Biden is the “greatest president” in U.S. history when it comes to mental health issues.

“Joe Biden has been the best president we’ve ever had on mental health,” Kennedy said in an interview. “He’s pushing insurance companies to implement the Mental Health Parity and Addiction Parity Act, legislation that I had the honor of writing with my late father when I was a congressman.”

“And frankly, he’s put more money into community mental health than anything in the entire country,” Kennedy added. “So there’s really no choice other than Joe Biden. If you care about this addiction crisis and this mental health crisis, Joe Biden is the candidate.”
After Kennedy spoke, CNN host Dana Bash said his comments “sounded like an endorsement.”
Kennedy laughed and replied, “Absolutely. You know, he’s the best and he knows the issues. It’s affected him personally and I think any American can understand the situation Joe Biden is in because we’re all in the same situation.”

Asked if he was worried his cousin would be an “obstructionist” in the upcoming election between Biden and former President Donald Trump, Kennedy acknowledged he was worried Trump would “get elected.”
Patrick Kennedy’s latest endorsement comes after several members of the Kennedy family voiced their support for Biden in April.
In April, 15 members of the Kennedy family, including Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s sister, Kerry Kennedy, voiced their support for Biden.
In response to the Kennedy family’s endorsement, Biden said, “I don’t want to get emotional, but it’s a great honor to have the support of the Kennedy family.”
