Pause in Fighting for Aid Deliveries in Southern Gaza, 8 a.m. to 7 p.m.

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF), along with the Coordination of Government Activities in the Territory (COGAT), announced on Sunday that they would implement a daytime pause in fighting along routes through southern Gaza to allow for the delivery of aid.

The route is just west of Rafah, where heavy fighting is taking place.

COGAT is an organization within the Israeli Ministry of Defense responsible for the welfare of Palestinian civilians in Gaza, Judea and Samaria (the West Bank).

The Israel Defense Forces said in a statement:

As part of the IDF and Gaza Strip Army’s continuing efforts to increase humanitarian aid supplies to the Gaza Strip, and in accordance with relevant consultations with the UN and international organizations, starting yesterday (Saturday), humanitarian military activities along the road heading north from Kerem Shalom checkpoint via Salah al-Din road will be temporarily suspended from 8 am to 7 pm daily until further notice.

This marks another step in the humanitarian efforts undertaken by the IDF and COGAT since the start of the war.

The Israel Defense Forces will continue to support humanitarian efforts on the ground.

The ceasefire was controversial when it was declared, with right-wing ministers in the government of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu declaring I complain The military made the decision without consulting the country’s civilian leaders, and argued that pausing the fighting to allow aid deliveries would only help Hamas continue fighting.

Palestinian Sources ClaimedThey falsely claim that the humanitarian ceasefire proves that Israel is targeting humanitarian convoys.
