A kitten is recovering in Pennsylvania after a man claimed he ripped off part of the cat’s face last week because he thought it was a jaguar, authorities said.
According to the Lancaster County District Attorney’s Office, Richard Swangler, 56, responded to a call about a wild animal, believed to be a black jaguar, at a residence in West Hempfield Township in the early hours of March 3. and reported it to the police.
Officers arrived and found Swangler inside the home with scratches and bite marks on his arms. Police found a kitten, not a wild animal, with severe facial injuries.
ORCA, which is caring for the 6-month-old cat named Nakia, said the kitten’s jaw was “completely degloved to the bone.”
