Pentagon Identifies U.S. Soldiers Killed in Jordan Attack
The Pentagon has officially named two U.S. soldiers who were tragically killed following an Iranian attack in Jordan over the weekend.
On Monday, the Department of the Army confirmed their identities: Lt. Tyler James Feehan, 25, from Ewa Beach, Hawaii, and Army Lt. Cmdr. Isabella Gonzalez, 19, from Carrollton, Texas. Both lost their lives during an enemy assault at the Muwafaq-Sorti Air Base in Jordan.
Isabella Gonzalez, who was a private at the time of her death, had enlisted in the U.S. Army in 2025.
Assigned to the 1st Battalion, 57th Air Defense Artillery Regiment, part of the 10th Army Air and Missile Defense Command, stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, Gonzalez served as a 14P air and missile defense crew member, as noted in a press release from her command.
Brig. Gen. Glenn Henke, the commander of the 10th Army Air and Missile Defense Command, expressed deep sorrow over Gonzalez’s death. “She made the ultimate sacrifice for her country and will be forever remembered as a hero. Our hearts go out to her family, friends, and teammates. Our immediate priority is to ensure they have the resources and support they need to cope with this loss,” he stated.
Lt. Tyler James Feehan, who died on Saturday, was part of the 2nd Battalion, 55th Air Defense Artillery Regiment of the 32nd Army Air and Missile Defense Command, also based in Fort Bragg.
Gen. John Dover, the commander of the 32nd AAMDC, remarked on Feehan’s exceptional dedication. “His commitment to our mission and the air defense force he led will leave a lasting legacy. We are dedicated to supporting his loved ones during this incredibly challenging time, and we will never forget his significant sacrifice for our nation,” he added.
According to the U.S. Army, Feehan is to be honored with the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Combat Action Badge, and a posthumous promotion to captain.
On Saturday, Secretary of War Pete Hegseth commented following the initial news of the casualties, stating that, “Swift heroes. Their sacrifice only strengthens our resolve.”
Furthermore, CENTCOM reported that four American personnel were medically evacuated to a local hospital but were later discharged. Others were assessed for minor injuries and have resumed their duties. It was also revealed that one military member remains unaccounted for.
While the identity of the missing service member has not yet been confirmed, U.S. military officials announced the discovery of an unidentified body at the scene, which is under investigation.
In a separate incident in northern Iraq, one U.S. service member was killed and another injured due to a controlled explosion of unexploded ordnance from a downed Iranian drone. This unfortunate turn of events brings the weekend’s toll to at least three fatalities, with additional injuries reported.
These updates arrived amid ongoing tensions, as hostilities with Iran have escalated, and ceasefire discussions have fallen apart. CENTCOM also announced the conclusion of nine consecutive nights of strategic strikes aimed at diminishing Iran’s capability to target merchant vessels and civilian seafarers transiting the Strait of Hormuz.
