On Tuesday's “NewsNation Now” broadcast, Rep. Henry Cuellar (D-Texas) argued that Democrats “need to focus on strong border security,” another takeaway from the 2024 election. One lesson, he argued, is that “people don't want to talk about border security.” Talk about joy when you are feeling the pain of paying for eggs and eggs, as Democrats have done on a national level. “Certainly we need to focus on what's important to the working class,” Cuellar said. “For example, in Starr County, which hasn't elected a Republican in 125 years and voted Republican, No. Trump got 57% of the vote. So I got 57% of the vote. We could do that, and Democrats need to focus on strong border security first. And we need to look at what the cost of living is for individuals.
