An April poll conducted by Harvard Harris School found that many people believe President Joe Biden’s presidential standing is “deteriorating.”

47% say things have actually gotten worse under Biden as president, while just 29% think things have gotten better. About a quarter, or 24%, think he will remain the same.
Majorities of Republicans and independents (76% and 52%, respectively) believe Biden has been actively “worsening” as president, while 55% of Democrats disagree; Biden believes he is improving.

Voters also continue to have concerns about Biden’s age and mental health. The majority, 55%, said they doubted Biden’s mental health. 80% of Republicans, 62% of independents and 26% of Democrats also have doubts about Biden’s mental health.
Additionally, 66% of Americans believe Biden is too old to be president, while 91% of Republicans, 77% of independents, and 34% of Democrats believe Biden is too old to be president. I think we’re taking too much of that.”
The survey was conducted April 24-25, 2024 among 1,961 registered voters. There is an error of ± 2%.
