Since the publication of the article, Politico Updated heading Read “Angela Alsobrooks wins a chaotic Senate primary. Now she’ll face Larry Hogan.” The article does not mention any changes to the heading.

“Headlines are regularly A/B tested and rotated based on a number of factors, including engagement,” Politico communications director Melissa Cook said in a comment to Fox News Digital.

She also explained that since both headlines “accurately reflect the article itself,” the new article will not have an editor’s note, meaning there is nothing of note.

The article does not say that Mr. Hogan is standing in front of Mr. Alsobrooks, but it emphasizes that Mr. Alsobrooks could “make history” if she wins the next election.

Before the change, some conservatives criticized and mocked the old headlines, accusing Politico of playing favorites.

“No matter how much you hate the corporate media, it’s not enough!” said Steve Cortez, a former Trump adviser.

TownHall.com web editor Rebecca Downs added, “It also humiliates Maryland voters who might vote for Hogan!”

“This is how Politico is covering the Maryland Senate race,” said Byron York, chief political correspondent for the Washington Examiner.

“I wonder which candidate Politico is supporting,” asked Calvary founding partner John Ashbrook.

Republicans are hoping Hogan, a former two-term governor, can help the party regain a majority in the Senate, even though Maryland is overwhelmingly blue. Although Mr. Hogan boasted high popularity as governor, Maryland has not had a Republican senator in nearly 40 years.
