President Trump’s Historic Education Reforms Will Rightfully Return Education Back to the States

Today, President Donald Trump delivery One of the most influential reforms of his presidency is reducing the size of the Ministry of Education and bringing education back to state control. President Trump boldly reimagined what education might look like in our country by executive order.

Funding to the Ministry of Education has more than doubled since 1980, but billions of funding have not contributed to improving education outcomes. In fact, it is done in the opposite direction.

Over the past 10 years, the results of mathematics for 8th graders are It was dropped Some of the reading scores for two grade levels, 8th graders The lowest It has been recorded. Over 70% of 8th graders do that I'm skilled Reading and mathematics is pretty much the same one third Of all public school students, they are behind the grade.

President Trump knows we have to do well.

That's why I support President Trump's proposal to bring control of our education system back to the state. The role of government is to empower without over-regulating, and this move will enable a more localized, innovative and accountable education for education that truly serves the needs of students, families and educators.

President Trump's executive order will enable the much-anticipated curriculum and administrative reform, expanding opportunities for school choice and freedom of education.

By returning the curriculum to the state and district levels, we can ultimately teach common sense instead of the common core. Beyond the outdated nationally standardized tests, they instead focus on academic achievement and fresh accountability for new choices for students and parents.

The state can also bring back high schools, allowing students to gain important work experience in high schools. This allows students to graduate in preparation for a local career, apprenticeship or university. Last year, I held the National Association of Governors on a tour of the Southeast Career Technical Academy in Las Vegas. There he graduated from a student ready for careers in construction, the automotive industry, culinary arts, beauty and cybersecurity.

My fellow governors will agree with me: we need to desperately invest in more professional high schools and make them more accessible to more students who want to pursue that educational path. With President Trump's executive order, we can do just that.

For too long, federal orders, sometimes partisan politics, have prevented us from implementing school selection programs that tie our hands and empower our families. By reducing the size, bureaucracy and power of the U.S. Department of Education, we can increase the chances of parents choosing the best educational environment for their children. Parents should always have final say in their child's education, not in the Washington, DC bureaucrats.

By removing harmful DEI policies, restoring the integrity of women's sports and implementing educational freedom, President Trump has already made great strides in schools and universities. Bringing education back to the state is the next important step in President Trump's transformation education agenda.

I am committed to working with fellow governors and President Trump to prioritize parental choices, promote accountability and transparency, and to alleviate students first. Education must be about opportunity. This move will allow the nation to provide unprecedented opportunities for all children, regardless of household income or where their children live.

Educational decisions are best made closest to the student by those who care most about the student. President Trump understands that and appreciates that he has taken a major step to improving the lives and preparation of all generations of American children.
