Protester defends the idea of identifying as a cat

A pro-trans student has defaced an event poster featuring activist Riley Gaines, claiming that using the term “real women” is “transphobic.”

Keegan Nangle, a University of Alabama student and campus reform correspondent, set up the sign in advance of Gaines’ event.

of eventThe event, titled “Reclaiming Feminism,” was hosted by Young Women for America, of which Nangle is president.

“Riley Gaines will talk about her experience swimming at the University of Kentucky and her current role advocating for women’s sports,” the event description reads.

The activist group’s ad was later ruined by students pouring soda on it. The student expressed to Nangle and his colleagues that the text on the poster contained potentially “transphobic” language.

A video records an interaction between two women and an unidentified student. Picked up with Soda Destroyer, who defends the idea that humans can identify as cats.

“So if you woke up and wanted to, could you recognize yourself as a cat?” Nangle asked. campus reform.

“It’s not an outrageous gender, so it’s absolutely fine,” the student replied.

Nangle and the student debated whether gender was determined by God, but the student, still waving a soda can, declared that the use of the term “real woman” was offensive.

“Real women? Real women?! That’s transphobic!”

“That’s your opinion, and you’re entitled to it,” Nangle replied. “But please don’t destroy our freedom of speech.”

“Freedom of speech protects you from the government, not from a bottle of Dr. Piv,” countered an anonymous Alabama student. “If you don’t want to be torn apart, don’t put that transphobic motherfucker on the ground.”

“Free speech doesn’t protect you from Dr. Piv’s bottles and the filth you put on the ground. ‘Real women,’ that’s transphobia,” the soda defender continued.

After Nangle and her colleagues said they had permission from the university to display the signs, students vowed to destroy all “transphobic trash” placed on campus.

The student also said that the school has made statements “about diversity” and “everyone here is equal” and that because the school supports diversity, “transphobic assholes are on the scene”. I don’t want that,” he said.

“This is not transphobia. It’s science, it’s reality. If you want to ask questions about it…” Nangle said, but was interrupted by a student’s philosophical question.

“What is real?”

Before the two sides parted ways, the student was invited to hear about former NCAA swimmer Gaines’ experience, but the student argued that “trans women” have been through much worse.

Gaines said: X She said she also received protests from “furries,” a term typically used to describe someone who excessively enjoys wearing intricate costumes that look like cartoon animals.
