In his annual address to the country’s parliament on Thursday, President Putin accused Western countries of primarily focusing on weakening Russia.

He said that if Western countries continued to support it, it would have nuclear weapons “capable of attacking targets within its territory.”

“(Western countries) should realize that we too have weapons that can attack targets on our own territory,” Putin said. “All this really threatens conflict with the use of nuclear weapons and the destruction of civilization. Don’t they understand that?!

Additionally, the Russian president is likely to be re-elected for another six-year term in the upcoming March 15-17 presidential election.

The serious warning came after French President Emmanuel Macron proposed sending ground forces to Ukraine to NATO members in Europe, but the United States, Britain, Germany and others rejected the idea. .

“Strategic nuclear forces are in a state of complete readiness,” President Putin said for the first time in 2018, adding that a new generation of hypersonic nuclear weapons have already been deployed or have completed their development and testing. He pointed out that there is.

Putin’s comments came a day after the European Commission president suggested Russian assets for aiding Ukraine should be frozen.

The Russian leader also suggested that Western politicians should consider the fate of leaders such as Nazi Germany’s Adolf Hitler and France’s Napoleon Bonaparte, who invaded Russia during the same era.

“But the future consequences will be much more tragic,” Putin said. “They think it (war) is a cartoon.”

Additionally, President Putin denied reports from US intelligence agencies that claimed Russia was developing space-based nuclear weapons that could target US satellites.
