Putin and Zelensky Set to Meet as Peace Talks Advance

During a recent press briefing, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt announced that Russian President Vladimir Putin has agreed to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, marking a potential step forward in peace negotiations.

Leavitt mentioned that this meeting is a part of the next phase in the peace process, which will eventually include a trilateral meeting with President Donald Trump. A reporter inquired whether the meeting between Zelensky and Putin was confirmed, to which Leavitt affirmed positively.

“Following encouraging discussions yesterday, President Trump had a phone call with President Putin and agreed on the next steps in the peace process, starting with a meeting between President Putin and President Zelensky,” Leavitt explained. “If necessary, this will be followed by a trilateral meeting involving all three leaders.”

On Monday, Trump shared that he initiated a call with Putin to facilitate arrangements for the meeting, although the exact location remains undecided. In an appearance on “Fox & Friends,” Trump emphasized his efforts to coordinate between the two leaders.

“I spoke to President Putin, and we’re working to set up a meeting with President Zelensky,” Trump stated. “We’ll see how that unfolds. If it goes well, I’ll then participate in the trilateral discussions.”

Meanwhile, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov was cautious in his responses, underscoring that any potential summits should be approached with careful planning. This suggests that while discussions are underway, uncertainties still linger regarding the timing and nature of the meetings.
