Reality TV Personality Spencer Pratt Declares Candidacy for Mayor of Los Angeles

Spencer Pratt Announces Mayoral Run in Los Angeles

Spencer Pratt, known from reality TV, revealed on Wednesday that he is entering the race for mayor in Los Angeles, California.

He made his announcement at the Palisades protests on January 7, which coincided with the anniversary of a destructive fire that claimed his home. Since that incident, Pratt has voiced strong criticism towards the Democratic Party in California, particularly targeting Governor Gavin Newsom and Los Angeles Mayor Karen Bass, regarding how they handled the wildfires that resulted in over 6,000 homes lost and 12 fatalities.

“I’m running for mayor,” Pratt stated. “This isn’t just a campaign; it’s a mission. We’re going to shine a light on the system, probe every corner of LA politics, and bring the city back to being camera-ready.”

His wife, Heidi Montag, expressed her backing for Pratt’s ambitions, claiming that the response to the January 2025 fire was “grossly negligent.” She believes they intentionally let the situation escalate, stating, “There was no accountability. It was gross negligence. They allowed this to happen. It wasn’t a natural disaster; it was their fault, and we need to take our due responsibility.”

Shortly after his announcement, he received support from Richard Grenell, the Presidential Special Envoy, who mentioned on social media that he plans to assist in fundraising for Pratt’s campaign. He emphasized the need for transparency and praised Pratt’s passion for initiating positive changes in Los Angeles.

In a recent post, Pratt accused Newsom of neglecting fire victims, suggesting they were being left to fend for themselves, even as the governor’s office announced aid measures for rebuilding homes. He further criticized Newsom’s actions, implying they favored donors rather than addressing the needs of the affected voters.
