Recall of Construction Toys Due to Magnet Safety Hazard

Over 200,000 construction toys with magnets have been recalled because of the potential risk of accidental ingestion, which has led to surgeries for two children, according to federal authorities.

The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced that around 213,500 sets of Goody King magnetic building cubes and blocks are involved in this recall.

These cubes can break apart or open up, which could loosen the magnets inside, posing a swallowing hazard for children. This situation, while alarming, can even result in serious health issues or death.

“Swallowing strong magnets can lead to them attracting one another or other metal items, resulting in an obstruction or perforation in the digestive system, which can cause severe complications including sepsis,” the agency stated.

Yi Suen Commerce, the importer, has been made aware of two cases where children ingested the magnets and needed surgery to extract them.

The company has also noted at least 27 incidents of the cubes breaking or loosening, allowing access to the dangerous magnets.

Customers are urged to stop using these magnetic building cubes immediately and to get in touch with Yi Suen Commerce for a full refund.

The construction toy sets come with small, powerful magnets that can be combined to create various 3D structures. They were available online on platforms like Amazon from January 2024 to July 2026 in multiple sets ranging from 45 to 300 pieces, priced between $17 and $50.
