Reporter faces backlash online for shocking remark about shooting of National Guard troops

Controversial Comments on Shooting of National Guardsmen

While law enforcement continues to look into the shooting of two National Guardsmen in Washington, D.C., one reporter’s comments have ignited significant backlash.

Ken Dilanian from MS NOW opined that the shooting could be linked to widespread dissatisfaction regarding the Trump administration’s policies, suggesting that left-leaning sentiments may have played a role. He stated, “You know, there’s a lot of controversy going on in the United States right now about ICE. They’re in uniforms too, with masks. Some Americans might have issues with that, and apparently, this is connected to the shooting.” His remarks quickly gained traction on social media, where they drew harsh criticism.

John Podhoretz from Commentary remarked, “I apologize for this. But the problem is, he’s not serious.” Others echoed similar sentiments, branding Dilanian’s comments as “batshit crazy” and a sign of moral deficiency. One user suggested that he should reconsider how to rationalize the shooting of National Guardsmen and called for a deeper look into his perspectives.

“This is terrible,” another critic added, while yet another remarked scathingly, “You’re a heartless idiot and not a real journalist. Did you jump for joy upon hearing about these deaths?”

The White House went into lockdown after military gunfire, and there were conflicting reports about the victims’ condition, initially stated as fatal but clarified later as critical by the FBI.

Additionally, a federal judge recently ruled against the legality of the troop surge in Washington, D.C., giving the government a 21-day window for an appeal.
