Restaurant Owner Provides Free Meals to ICE Agents

Restaurant Owner Shows Support for ICE Agents

In Catalina, Arizona, the owner of an immigrant restaurant is extending a warm welcome to U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents amidst rising tensions.

Jorge Rivas, originally from El Salvador, owns Sammy’s Mexican Grill. Recently, he explained in an interview that he and his staff have made it a point to treat law enforcement officers with kindness, especially at a time when they often face unfair treatment from the public.

Rivas mentioned that the officers are treated to complimentary meals—not because they’re unable to pay—but as a way to express gratitude for their service to the community. “We’re grateful for who you are and what you do,” he stated regarding law enforcement.

He expressed that he believes it’s important to show appreciation for officers, considering the increased criticism and negativity directed toward them. Rivas remarked, “I’m doing it because I think it’s the right thing to do,” and added that he finds local businesses resisting ICE operations to be un-American.

Despite facing pushback, many customers, whom Rivas referred to as “great patriots,” continue to support his restaurant, recognizing the value of law enforcement. “Some people are afraid to say the right thing. But we are not afraid,” he said, emphasizing his commitment.

Rivas invited all federal employees, particularly those working for ICE, to visit his restaurant, assuring them they would receive the respect they deserve. According to reports, ICE agents and their families have seen a staggering increase in death threats, up by 8,000 percent.

Rivas has been characterized as an outspoken supporter of former President Donald Trump and has received accolades from various individuals for attending Trump’s rallies and expressing support online. The former president even acknowledged Rivas in a social media post.

In a message to those protesting against ICE, Rivas suggested that seeking purpose in life by confronting federal agents might not be the answer. “They need to look to Jesus and God for moral values, and it will make them feel better,” he stated.

A January poll reflected that more than half of U.S. voters back Trump’s efforts to combat illegal immigration.
