Cucinarastica of Giuseppe, situated in San Luis Obispo, California, has let go of an employee after they made remarks regarding the assassination of Charlie Kirk.

The restaurant’s manager, Derek Hess, spoke to Fox News Digital and confirmed the incident. Hess emphasized his support for freedom of speech but criticized the content of the employee’s comments, stating, “It demonized the murder of Charlie Kirk and made me think it was a good thing that happened.” He also noted that the comments were disparaging towards half of the political spectrum.

According to Hess, the atmosphere at work became uncomfortable. Employees felt uneasy knowing there was someone in a position of authority who had made such remarks online.

The Italian eatery initially addressed the situation publicly through social media, stating, “We are aware of inappropriate posts made by former employees about the tragic death of Charlie Kirk. These comments do not reflect the values and opinions held by Giuseppe’s restaurants.” The manager refrained from disclosing specifics about the ex-employee or the exact nature of the comments.

In the wake of the incident, the restaurant reiterated its commitment to values such as respect, integrity, and professionalism. “We do not tolerate communications that endorse disrespect or violence,” the statement continued. Hess expressed that he took prompt action to terminate the employee’s employment once he became aware of the issue.
