Roberto's Taco Shop is being boycotted due to the CEO's suspected support for Trump.

A popular taco chain in San Diego is facing boycotts after claims surfaced about its CEO’s support for former President Donald Trump. Founded in 1964 by Roberto and Dolores Robredo, Roberto’s Taco Shop operates over 80 locations across California, Nevada, and Texas. The current CEO is their son, Reynaldo Robredo.

The controversy began when a TikTok user shared a video accusing the chain of having “Latino MAGA business” ties, along with a screenshot of a pro-Trump post allegedly from Robredo’s personal Facebook account. This prompted questions like, “Did this CEO really forget the roots of his restaurants? How can he support a government affecting many of his customers?” The user added that the majority of his clientele is Latino.

Following this, a public Facebook group named “A Strong Nevada” also called for a boycott, further amplifying the backlash. The accusations intensified with posts noting Robredo’s past attendance at a Latino roundtable with Trump in 2020, where he had expressed gratitude for the support of Latino businesses.

In response to the growing ire, the restaurant’s Las Vegas location issued a statement distancing itself from the situation, emphasizing that while the CEO may have personal political views, individual franchisees manage their locations independently. They highlighted that their workforce reflects the values and heritage of Latino immigrants dedicated to serving their communities.

Roberto’s has not yet publicly commented further on the matter.
