Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu has warned that the Kremlin will step up attacks on Western weapons stored in Ukraine.
“We will increase the intensity of attacks on distribution centers and storage bases for Western weapons,” Shoigu said on Tuesday, according to Russian state media. RIA Novosti.
Shoigu’s warning comes just as the House of Representatives passed a $95 billion foreign aid package over the weekend, passing it in the Senate on Tuesday night. It is currently on its way to President Biden’s desk for signature.
Foreign aid to U.S. allies in distress includes $26 billion in humanitarian assistance to Israel and Gaza, $8 billion to Taiwan and additional U.S. allies in the Indo-Pacific, and about $61 billion to Ukraine.
“I will sign this bill and call on the American people as soon as it reaches my desk tomorrow so we can begin sending arms and equipment to Ukraine this week,” Biden said in a statement Tuesday night.
The new funding will provide Kiev with much-needed weapons and reinforcements to fight a full-scale Russian invasion that has lasted more than two years.
Shoigu’s warning comes as the Biden administration prepares to send a $1 billion arms package to Ukraine.

“The need is urgent. For Ukraine, facing relentless shelling from Russia. For Israel, facing unprecedented attacks from Iran. For refugees and conflicts and natural disasters around the world, including Gaza, Sudan and Haiti. and for our partners who seek security and stability in the Indo-Pacific region,” Biden said in a statement.
