Kayla Reid Alleges Drug Abuse and Infidelity in Ryan Lochte Divorce

Kayla Reid, a former Playboy model, has made serious claims about drug abuse and infidelity following her divorce from Olympic swimmer Ryan Lochte, which was finalized last month.

In an interview, Reid mentioned that she had given Lochte an ultimatum—either seek rehabilitation or face divorce—after concerns arose about drug use around their children, Kaiden, 9, Liv, 7, and Georgia, 3.

The couple, who tied the knot in 2018, saw their marriage fall apart by 2024. Reid claimed to have found traces of cocaine in her daughter Liv’s bedroom and alleged that Lochte used nitrous oxide around their kids.

Reid noted that Lochte continued to drink even after starting outpatient rehab.

By mid-January 2025, she had suggested Lochte undergo inpatient treatment for 30 days and attend an “intensive couples boot camp.” According to her, Lochte refused, shouting that there was no issue, which prompted her to contact her lawyer and initiate divorce proceedings.

Reid also recalled at least two instances of alleged infidelity. The first incident was in 2017, when she received a photo of Lochte with another woman at a friend’s wedding while pregnant with Kaiden. The second occurred in 2023, when she found suggestive selfies from a woman on Lochte’s phone while she was expecting Georgia.

Lochte, now 42, denied using drugs around their children but acknowledged using drugs at home.

Reid, who now works as a real estate agent in Gainesville, initiated divorce proceedings last March. She claimed Lochte attempted to coerce her into signing a non-disclosure agreement and offered $25,000 for custody of their kids before they reached a settlement.

Currently, Reid has primary custody of their three children while Lochte has relocated to Missouri with his fiancée, Molly Gillihan, to coach college swimming.

Lochte and Gillihan got engaged in June after a year of dating. Reid stated they were friends before realizing they were together. She also mentioned sending Gillihan a “desperate email” last year regarding the situation.

Gillihan responded, asserting they were not friends, just acquaintances.

Reflecting on the turmoil in her marriage, Reid noted in her diary back in 2020 that she felt it was a “ticking time bomb.” The constant lies from Lochte left her questioning reality and feeling trapped in a twisted narrative.

In his statement to a magazine, Lochte acknowledged his past mistakes, recognizing he wasn’t the husband or father he could have been. He expressed gratitude for his children but dismissed any responses to allegations, emphasizing that discussions about non-disclosure agreements were aimed at protecting the children rather than hiding the truth.

Lochte has previously admitted to being unfaithful to Reid while denying any involvement with Gillihan. The couple’s breakup has drawn public and social media attention, with Reid announcing her divorce on Instagram last June, citing that their seven-year marriage had “irretrievably broken down.”
