Illegal Immigrant Charged with Murder in California After Jail Release

A Venezuelan man is facing murder charges in California after allegedly stabbing a father to death in a sanctuary city. This incident occurred just one day after a local judge had released the suspect on his own recognizance. Now, federal authorities are urging Governor Gavin Newsom to facilitate the suspect’s deportation.

Meanwhile, another illegal immigrant, this time from El Salvador, was apprehended on charges of distributing fentanyl near a Virginia high school. Isaac Melendez-Carranza, 31, was arrested on August 20 and is currently being held without bond at the Loudoun County Adult Detention Center.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) has indicated that Melendez-Carranza has been under a final deportation order since July 18, 2024. According to the department, he was initially arrested by U.S. Border Patrol in 2016 after illegally entering the country from Mexico but was later released on bond.

DHS confirmed to Fox News that a detainer was placed on Melendez-Carranza because he is an undocumented immigrant involved in drug-related activities, particularly concerning overdoses linked to students at Park View High School.

During a search of Melendez-Carranza’s residence following his arrest, deputies reportedly found around 100 pills and approximately $1,000 in cash. This incident is particularly concerning as it ties into the hospitalizations of several students due to suspected overdoses, although it remains unclear if these cases were directly related to his actions.

Loudoun County Sheriff Mike Chapman expressed serious concerns about how illicit drugs are affecting local youth. He mentioned Melendez-Carranza’s illegal status and noted that he has been in the U.S. for about ten years, raising questions about community safety. The sheriff stated that once Melendez-Carranza’s local charges are resolved, he will be handed over to ICE for deportation.

Chapman acknowledged the seriousness of the situation, hinting at the possibility of further arrests but did not provide a specific timeline for any additional actions. The sheriff’s office emphasized the necessity of addressing such immigration cases, particularly those involving criminal activity.
