On Thursday, Sen. Mark Wayne Mullin (R-Okla.) appeared on FNC's “The Ingraham Angle” on Thursday and spoke to Chuck Schumer about the current impasse on the Congressional Preservation Spending bill. He blamed the Senate Majority Leader (Democratic Party, New York). Government is open.
The Oklahoma Republican likened Schumer's actions to holding the nation and the economy “hostage.”
“[S]House Republicans just helped cut spending,” said host Laura Ingraham. “You may have heard what Chip Roy said. He said it would be completely unconscionable to agree to raise the debt ceiling without implementing specific structural reforms that would ultimately begin to cut spending. Why is he wrong?”
“Well, first of all, what he wants to do is be part of the reconciliation,” Marin answered. “What he doesn't realize is that Mr. Schumer wants to put the debt limit over President Trump's neck to negotiate a settlement, because Senate Republicans are willing to put the debt limit over President Trump's neck to negotiate a settlement without Democratic support. “We need 60 votes to pass the bill.'' Just 51 is not enough. We have to — we have to have 60. What Schumer is doing here is he's going to lock up the president, lock up the American people, hold the economy hostage, and push for even worse deals going forward. ”
He continued, “Keep in mind that President Trump is a master of dealmaking. He understands what it takes to do the job. He's been there before. I'm positive because if we don't meet this debt limit now, he might put this thing out of his mind and become delinquent on our debt. Now, think about what's going to happen. You're going to see a stock market crash, a devaluation of the currency. What President Trump has done is get America back on track and get the economy moving for the American people. MAGA, Make America Great Again. And these people who were elected, it's a shame because MAGA is now against the very people who got him elected.”
