Scottie Scheffler has achieved overwhelming results so far in 2024.
Victories at Bay Hill, TPC Sawgrass, Augusta National, and most recently the RBC Heritage at Harbor Golf Town Links solidified his status as one of the top players in the world by a landslide. The gap between him and Rory McIlroy, who is second in the Official World Golf Rankings, is greater than the distance between McIlroy and Tiger Woods, who is currently ranked 788th in the world.
Scheffler is in a league of his own, relying on the exquisite tee-to-green play we’ve seen since Woods’ reign in the mid-2000s.
His wins so far this season underscore this point.
So far in 2024. Mr. Scheffler earned $18,693,235.. That huge number wouldn’t have been as high if it weren’t for the big prize money at the new signature event, where Scheffler has won twice this season. However, the Masters Championship and The Players Championship typically have the largest prize money of any event throughout the year, and Scheffler won both.
As such, Scheffler has competed in 10 events this season and finished in the top 10 in nine of them. Therefore, his earnings per start total $1,869,323.50.
That number is more than the winner of 22 PGA Tour events receives. Only the four majors, eight signature events, and three tournaments that make up the FedEx Cup Playoffs give winners more pay.
Looking more closely, Scheffler made $479,313.72 per round this season.
He played 39 competitive rounds in 2024. Had he not had his pro-am at AT&T Pebble Beach shortened to 54 holes due to weather, he would have had a round of 40. Still, Scheffler shot above par every time, with 30 of those rounds in the 60s.
But consider this: According to CNBC, America’s median household income Scheffler has increased his numbers by 10 times each time he’s tested this year. Also, on each hole he earns $26,628.54, an incredible number that quickly adds up.
