Sen. Fetterman Supports U.S. Strike Against Iran

Senator John Fetterman from Pennsylvania made a notable appearance on “Fox & Friends Weekend” on Saturday, where he openly aligned himself with President Donald Trump’s decision to initiate a military strike on Iran, diverging from many within his own party.

Prior to the U.S. attack, named Operation Epic Fury, several congressional members, including Rep. Thomas Massey (R-Ky.), expressed their discontent. This includes a bipartisan group known as the “Gang of Eight,” consisting of four Republican and Democratic leaders along with members from the House and Senate Intelligence Committees.

When asked by FOX News’ Lawrence B. Jones why he chose to go against some Democrats and Republicans, Fetterman explained, “I believe it was always the right move. We can express support for peace publicly, but true peace requires decisive action.” He also referenced last year’s destruction of an Iranian nuclear facility as a catalyst for the current military decision.

Fetterman asserted his belief in the possibility of peace through these military actions. “I’m proud to support our military and Israel; it was definitely the right thing to do,” he said.

Co-host Ainsley Earhart highlighted a post Fetterman made on social media, praising Trump’s willingness to pursue necessary actions for peace in the region. She called on fellow senators to respond to those, like Massey and some Democrats, who oppose the military operation.

Fetterman emphasized, “I want to remind my colleagues that Iran is currently harming its own citizens. This conflict revolves around this dangerous regime, not the Iranian people.” He stated that, while he identifies as a Democrat, this is a situation where presidential action is justified, marking support for Israel as crucial for achieving peace in the region.

Looking ahead, Fetterman conveyed he never had high hopes for negotiations with Iran, yet felt that there is now a chance for “real peace.” He noted Secretary of State Marco Rubio hinted that the Gang of Eight received a warning before Operation Epic Fury commenced, jumping into a discussion about how long the military actions may take.

“Honestly, we can’t predict the duration, but reflecting on prior engagements, like the conflict between Israel and Iran last June, we saw rapid developments,” he mentioned, indicating that previous military strategies brought swift results.

Adding a final point, Fetterman remarked on reports that Iranians responded with laughter at the news of the attack on Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei’s residence.
