Senate GOP ‘Excited’ to Put Trump’s Agenda into Action

Incoming Senate Majority Leader John Thune (R-South Dakota) declared that Republicans in the next U.S. Senate are “excited” to enact President-elect Donald Trump's agenda.

Thune tweeted that he spoke with Trump after his Republican colleagues elected him president of the Senate for the 119th Congress.

“I just got off the phone. [Donald Trump.] “Senate Republicans are excited and ready to begin implementing President Trump's policies on behalf of the American people,” Thune wrote in a post on X.

He expressed similar sentiments at an afternoon press conference. Thune said the American people “are loudly rejecting the failed policies of Biden, Harris and Schumer,” and said Senate Republicans will work with House Republicans to “enact President Trump's policies.” He said he was “excited” about it.

“We have a mandate from the American people to not only clean up the mess left by the policies of Biden, Harris and Schumer, but also to carry out President Trump's priorities,” Thune said. .

Thune cited enforcing the Border Security Act, streamlining the bureaucracy, and releasing “American energy dominance” as some key areas of focus.

We will ensure that the president and his team have the tools and support they need to enforce border security laws and eliminate the violent criminals wreaking havoc in every state. We will work to make America prosperous again by streamlining the bureaucracy and reversing costly Biden-Harris regulations. We will also work to restore America's energy advantage, reducing energy security as well as reducing costs and strengthening national security. .

Thune became the majority leader, defeating two rivals, Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas) and Sen. Rick Scott (R-Florida). Scott, who was backed by many Trump supporters including Elon Musk and Tucker Carlson, received just 13 votes in the first round, compared to 23 for Thune and 15 for Cornyn. Ta.
