Social media users were outraged on Saturday after President-elect Trump shared a “dominant” handshake with French President Emmanuel Macron during a meeting in Paris.
President Trump traveled to France to attend the reopening of Notre Dame Cathedral in Paris, his first overseas trip since winning the 2024 presidential election. Ahead of the event, Trump met with Macron, and the two shook hands in a gesture that quickly went viral online.

President Trump attended the reopening ceremony along with other politicians, including First Lady Jill Biden and Prince William.
