Southwest Airlines Boeing 737 in Emergency Landing After Losing Engine Cover

A Southwest Airlines Boeing 737-800 was forced to make an emergency landing early Sunday after its engine cowling blew off during takeoff from Denver International Airport.

The FAA stated: incident report The crew reported that detached debris struck the wing flap. The plane was headed to Houston’s William P. Hobby Airport.

the hill report Southwest Airlines said in a statement to the newspaper that the plane was “experiencing a mechanical issue.” The airline also said the customer subsequently arrived at his destination on a different aircraft, approximately three hours later than scheduled.

“We apologize for any inconvenience caused by the delay, but the safety of our customers and employees is our top priority. Our maintenance team is currently examining the aircraft,” the airline said.

One of the passengers in the background can be heard saying, “Everything just blew up.”

According to FAA dataThe aircraft was delivered to the airline in 2015. The cowling is a removable engine cover that is typically removed for maintenance.

Sunday’s emergency landing was the latest in a series of recent safety incidents involving Boeing commercial airliners, UPI Note.

A week ago, a Boeing 787 Dreamliner operated by United Airlines was forced to make an unscheduled landing in Chicago due to a cracked windshield.

On March 28, a Boeing 777-200 carrying 273 passengers and 12 crew members also made an emergency stop in Denver after the crew reported engine trouble.

In early March, aviation authorities discovered that a United Airlines Boeing 737-800 was missing an exterior panel on the underside of the plane after it landed at its destination in Oregon.
