Trump Plans to Attend NBA Finals Game

President Donald Trump expressed, during a Cabinet meeting on Wednesday, his intention to attend the NBA Finals game next week. This follows the New York Knicks making it to the Finals for the first time in nearly three decades, which, honestly, is quite a big deal.

Meanwhile, the Western Conference Finals are gearing up for Game 7 after the San Antonio Spurs convincingly defeated the Oklahoma City Thunder 118-91 in Game 6 on Thursday night. The decisive game will take place in Oklahoma City, with the winner facing the Knicks after New York triumphed over the Cleveland Cavaliers in the Eastern Conference Finals.

Under pressure to perform, the Spurs rose to the occasion on their home court, thanks significantly to their standout player, Victor Wembanyama. The 7-foot-4 star led the team with 10-of-21 shooting—four of those being three-pointers—and recorded a double-double with 10 rebounds, two assists, two steals, and three blocks. It’s clear, he had quite the impact.

The Thunder, however, faced issues with their three-point shooting. Despite attempting 40 shots from beyond the arc, they only managed to make 10, finishing the game with just 25%. MVP candidate Shai Gilgeous-Alexander struggled, going 6-of-18 from the field, which surely didn’t help their cause.

On the other hand, San Antonio found contributions beyond just “Wemby.” Rookie Dylan Harper performed impressively off the bench, scoring 18 points on 6-of-9 shooting, alongside six rebounds and four assists in just 22 minutes. Within the starting lineup, Stephon Castle had a productive night with 17 points and nine assists, while Devin Vassell added 12 points with solid three-point shooting.

The game shifted significantly in the third quarter, where the Spurs outscored the Thunder 32-13, essentially taking control. Seemingly, it was a must-win for the franchise, and they delivered.

Now, the anticipation builds for Game 7, a situation often riddled with excitement and tight emotions. The Thunder are looking to leverage home court advantage for one last push, while the Spurs dream of repeating history, as they aim for a Finals matchup with the Knicks again, reminiscent of their 1999 encounter.
