State Bank of Pakistan reveals potential designs for new currency notes – ARY NEWS

KARACHI: The State Bank of Pakistan (SBP) on Thursday revealed potential designs of new banknotes of all denominations, ARY News reported.

The proposed designs were shortlisted from a number of designs submitted by citizens in an art competition organised by the SBP.

The first prize of Rs 10 lakh was won by Sherry Abidi.

The second prize of 10 rupees was won by Mirza Sufiyan

The first prize of Rs 20 was won by Haroon Khan.

The first prize of Rs 50 was won by Syed Fawad Hussain

The first prize of Rs 100 was won by Memona Afzal

“We (SBP) are pleased to announce the successful conclusion of the art competition to design the new banknote series. We thank the local artists and designers who participated in the competition and showcased their creativity and talent in this important endeavour,” the central bank said in a statement here.

SBP said the designs were shortlisted after a rigorous evaluation process by a committee of eminent experts in the relevant field.

The SBP said the designs shortlisted for the new banknotes are thought-provoking in nature and have been shared with international designers who have been tasked with collaborating with the central bank.

The first prize of Rs 500 was won by Hadiya Hassan.

The second prize of Rs 500 was won by Ainy Zahra

International designers along with SBP officials will be finalising the designs for the new banknote series.

“International designers will be free to use their own design expertise and imagination to create the final designs for the new banknote series, while also taking inspiration from local artworks,” the central bank added.

The first prize of Rs 1,000 was won by Nooreen Aslam.

The first prize of Rs 5,000 was won by Memona Afzal

The second prize of Rs 5,000 was won by Karim Muhammad

The SBP has endeavoured to ensure that the new banknote series reflects the rich cultural heritage and progressive vision of our country and hopes that the final design will fully reflect this collaborative effort, the statement said.

“The winners will be awarded cash prizes as previously announced in recognition of their contribution to this important national project,” the statement said.
