On Friday's broadcast of FOX News Channel's “Faulkner Focus” in Belleville, N.J., Mayor Michael Melham said the same day New Jersey issued guidance to “immediately call in a bomb squad” if a drone is shot down. He said he went. The county, and secondly, our fire department, have been instructed to be sure to wear HAZMAT suits as if it were an attack on the mainland.
Melham said: “On my way here, I was on the phone with the OEM team, and we have guidance coming in from the state right now, and that guidance says two different things. If a drone crashes, we immediately notify our county's bomb squad, and secondly, our fire department has been instructed to always wear HAZMAT suits.”
Host Harris Faulkner asked, “So if something were to fall from the sky and people saw it…you would be dealing with this?” [like] Will it be treated more like an attack on the mainland than a plane crash? ”
Melham responded, “That's true, because they don't really know if there's a payload or not. That's what we were told in Wednesday's briefing.”
He then said, “It could very well be the highest levels of government in our country, and it could be government assets that are being deployed as a countermeasure.”
