Station issues apology for supporting anarchist book fair for ICE defendants

Far-left Groups Allegedly Coordinated Austin Protests

There’s been quite a bit of buzz recently about a major news development involving New Hampshire Public Radio (NHPR). They’ve issued an apology after sponsoring an anarchist book fair that openly showed support for individuals facing prosecution related to a violent incident at an ICE detention facility in Texas, which reportedly resulted in a police officer being injured.

So, NHPR acknowledged that they made a mistake by accepting an invitation to sponsor and set up a table at the “New Hampshire Anarchist Book Fair” held in Hanover, New Hampshire. They recognized that this decision didn’t align with their standards, which typically avoid involvement in politically charged activities.

NHPR’s President and CEO, Jim Schachter, stated that the organization “erred” in their decision. Their code of ethics emphasizes the importance of maintaining journalistic integrity, steering clear of anything that might be construed as political.

Interestingly, NHPR pointed out that their newsroom wasn’t aware of the decision to partake in the event. They expressed a commitment to providing reliable journalism and are reassessing their internal processes to prevent such situations from recurring in the future.

The uproar primarily stemmed from promotional materials for the event that boldly proclaimed “Solidarity with the Prairieland Defendants,” referencing individuals charged in connection with an attack on the Prairieland Detention Center in Alvarado, Texas, back on July 4, 2025.

Federal authorities described the incident as a coordinated attack by what they referred to as a North Texas Antifa group. They allegedly utilized distractions like fireworks and vandalism to lure law enforcement away, while armed individuals positioned themselves to carry out the attack. This horrifying event led to a police officer being shot in the neck.

As a result of this attack, nine individuals were convicted of federal crimes, with seven others pleading guilty to giving material support to terrorists, according to the Justice Department.

In response to NHPR’s actions, the Carroll County Republicans expressed critical sentiments, suggesting that the organization didn’t just make a mistake—they got caught. They urged that no taxpayer money should be funneled to what they called a domestic terrorist-affiliated entity.

Similarly, New Hampshire state Rep. Kristin Noble added her two cents, saying, “NHPR promoting Antifa (shocking, I know),” while another state Rep., Keith Ammon, chimed in with a quip about mistakenly thinking the event was centered around cookbooks.
