‘Stop the invasion’: Migrant flights in battleground state ignite bipartisan backlash from lawmakers

Democratic and Republican lawmakers in key battleground states are “deeply troubled” after a group of illegal immigrants were flown into Big Sky Country on a late-night flight.

Five migrants reportedly from Venezuela arrived at Glacier Park International Airport after flying from New York to Kalispell, Montana, on Wednesday night, Flathead County Sheriff Brian Heino confirmed to Fox News Digital. The migrants were reportedly dropped off and eventually offered housing in the city, but Heino said this was “just one of many cases.”

“The only way illegal immigrants from South America could end up in Montana is if a ‘nonprofit’ with ties to the Biden administration deports them to Montana,” said Rep. Ryan Zinke, R-Montana. said in a press release, referring to Mr. Valley. Neighbors is a local nonprofit that welcomes the influx of immigrants who fly into the state.

“Montana’s law enforcement, schools, hospitals, and safety nets are under the greatest stress from the Biden border crisis,” said Zinke, who represents the Flathead district. “It’s unacceptable and it needs to end now.”

Zinke took this effort a step further on Thursday, writing a letter to Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas urging him to “immediately detain and deport this group of illegal immigrants.” The letter, obtained by Fox News Digital, asked for knowledge of the migrants and how they traveled from the southern border to northern Montana.

A spokesperson for Sen. Jon Tester (D-Mont.) said he is working with state officials to monitor the situation and that allowing immigrants to enter the country illegally “compromises national security.” he told Fox News Digital.

“Senator Tester has been in contact with local officials in Flathead County and is closely monitoring this ongoing situation,” the spokesperson said in a statement. “He believes that allowing anyone to enter the country without proper vetting or legal process would undermine national security.
