Students on spring break filmed attacking a man in Fort Lauderdale

A group of spring breakers was recorded violently attacking a man in a well-known tourist spot in Florida. The incident took place outside Dicey Riley’s Irish Pub in Fort Lauderdale around 3 a.m. on Wednesday. Surveillance footage shows several college students repeatedly punching the man before kicking him down to the ground. Despite the efforts of onlookers, the assault continued as the victim attempted to step onto the sidewalk.

Eventually, the man was left motionless on the street, prompting witnesses and police to try to revive him. First responders arrived shortly after to provide medical assistance.

The reasons behind the brawl are still unclear, and additional videos later surfaced showing various unidentified individuals clashing with police in the bustling downtown area. At one point, someone in a white T-shirt and black cap tried to intervene as officers worked to disperse the crowd.

Amid the chaos, one officer warned, “Next time you throw a punch, you’ll be handcuffed.” The Fort Lauderdale Police Department has not yet commented on the situation.

This event coincides with the influx of college students vacationing along Florida’s coast, leading local authorities to tighten measures against disruptive spring break activities. Over the weekend, Volusia County saw 133 spring breakers arrested, with a significant number in Daytona Beach. Sheriff Michael Chitwood mentioned they felt outnumbered, revealing that seven firearms had already been confiscated—a number he finds alarming.

As the situation escalated, viral videos depicted large crowds fleeing Daytona Beach, initially thought to be in response to gunfire. However, it was later found that the noise resulted from individuals breaking bottles on the beach.
