Surging GOP Senate candidate unleashes on ‘both parties’ during border visit: ‘Failing the American people’

Former Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan on Thursday campaigned for his Maryland Senate seat, with the ongoing crisis at the southern border remaining a top political issue in Texas. Visited the southern border in McAllen.

Hogan met with law enforcement and public safety officials and said in an exclusive statement to Fox News that he traveled to the border “to understand this crisis firsthand, and what I saw is something every American should know.” You should be shocked,” he said.

“This is a humanitarian disaster, harming our communities and causing havoc across the country,” he said. “Every day the government in Washington allows this crisis to continue without bipartisan action, and they are failing the American people.”

“For decades, politicians have campaigned on this issue as well as actually solving it. Enough is enough,” he continued. “The solution is not complicated, and both parties in the Senate will finally put politics aside and fight to get this done.”

The United States is in its fourth year of facing a border crisis. In fiscal year 2023, 2.4 million migrants were encountered at the southern border, a record high. So far in fiscal 2024, the number has exceeded 1.3 million, and there is still half a year left.

Republicans and Democrats are struggling to find a solution that can pass both chambers. The Biden administration has called for expanded resources and immigration reform, but Republicans say the crisis is largely caused by the Biden administration’s rollback of Trump-era policies.
