California Cult Member Appears in Court for Murder Conspiracy
A man from California, identified as Ramon Duran Jr., faced a San Bernardino County judge recently, looking rather solemn as he was arraigned on conspiracy to commit murder and murder charges linked to the 2023 death of Emilio Ganem. Duran, 44, was dressed in an orange jumpsuit and had a goatee during his court appearance, where his bail was set at an impressive $2 million.
According to observers in the courtroom, Duran remained quiet and seemed composed throughout the process.
Duran was apprehended in Nashville on January 12 after authorities looked into Ganem’s disappearance and murder. Ganem was affiliated with a group known as His Way Spirit Led Assemblies, which has drawn attention for its alleged “cult-like” characteristics and connections to multiple murders.
Two additional members of the alleged cult, Shelley Bailey “Kat” Martin and her husband Darryl Musick Martin, also faced charges related to Ganem’s murder. They were present in the same courtroom and requested that their bail be lowered from $2 million to $100,000 each.
Shelley Martin, appearing in a wheelchair, reportedly accused the Sheriff’s Department of threatening to confiscate her wheelchair while in custody. Her attorney noted that she had significant health issues. Observers mentioned that she wore a green jumpsuit and seemed to be in distress, showing signs of discomfort.
Ganem had a long history with the organization, joining over two decades ago and helping establish FullShield, a pest control business operated by the group, according to his sister, Jennifer Ganem.
He had left the group in April 2023, relocating back to Nashville where he began his own pest control venture. Shortly after, he returned to the Redlands area to reconnect with former clients, but his efforts met resistance from the group, which accused him of business theft.
Just seventeen days after he was seen visiting a Starbucks in Redlands, Ganem was reported missing. Authorities later discovered his rental truck charred in the Mojave Desert.
Furthermore, the Martin family and another former member, Andre Thomas, 48, face charges in connection with the death of 4-year-old Timothy Thomas, who tragically died of appendicitis a decade ago.
