Fort Worth, Texas — Conservative Views on Democrat Senate Candidate
A conservative voter who relocated from Democrat-dominated California to Republican-led Texas is expressing disapproval of Democrat U.S. Senate candidate James Talarico’s left-leaning views. This comes amidst the rising tensions in the midterm race between Talarico and Republican State Attorney General Ken Paxton.
During Paxton’s Come and Take It Tour stop at the T&P Station in downtown Fort Worth, Leonard Lang shared his perspective with Breitbart News. He has been living in Texas for five years and began to pay attention to Talarico during the primaries. Lang explained that he believed churches needed to confront the issues Talarico raised, or risk misleading people.
He labeled Talarico as a “progressive,” pointing out that “Progressives make everything progressively worse.” Lang remarked, “They create more government and bureaucracy, along with more regulations. The system is already flawed, and they seem unconcerned. Their goal is essentially to undermine capitalism, a movement that has been around since the 1880s. And I identify as a capitalist.”
Additionally, Breitbart News talked to a woman named Michele at the same campaign event. When questioned about her main concerns for Texas, she stated, “I am very worried about Texas potentially falling under communism, socialism, or Sharia law. That’s a huge concern for me. I feel like that’s the direction we’re heading in, and many people don’t realize how close we are.”
She pointed out that people in Fort Worth may be unaware of issues occurring in nearby Frisco and Allen, insisting that many locals believe that Tarrant County will remain Republican. However, Michele added, “I mean, just travel a little down I-35 or 121, and you’ll find mosques. So I wouldn’t say it’s just coming; it’s already here.”
As she continued, she remarked that many may not fully grasp the implications of candidates like Talarico, who might identify as socialist or communist, which can be quite concerning. “People often trust individuals in power. They trust the Talaricos of the world, thinking, ‘He seems like a good guy. He’s a pastor; he knows what’s going on.’”
Moreover, Texas Representative Brandon Gill commented on Talarico’s campaign strategy, suggesting that attempts to moderate his liberal image in ads could backfire. He noted that Texas voters can see a discrepancy between how Talarico presents himself and what he actually stands for, which many find off-putting.
Michele discussed her transition to conservatism a decade ago, emphasizing how the Democrat Party and welfare state negatively impacted her family’s lives. She revealed that she had been homeless with her daughter for two years, during which she pursued culinary school, eventually relocating to Texas where she now runs a baking business. She expressed that she feels much happier and more prosperous in Texas, especially in comparison to the high cost of living in California, and noted she is beginning to build generational wealth for her daughter.
As the midterm elections draw near, Michele advised Americans to research candidates and familiar terms they might encounter, such as socialism, capitalism, and fascism. “Take a few moments to really understand what these words mean,” she urged.
A recent poll indicated that Paxton is narrowly ahead of Talarico in the Senate race. During his speech, Paxton called on voters to join the fight, contrasting his agenda focused on faith, family, and freedom with Talarico’s, asserting, “I believe with all my heart that Texas will remain the reddest state in the union, thanks to what you all will do in the coming weeks.”
