A California man is frustrated after a thief stole his classic car, worth about $100,000, which he bought just two weeks ago.
Seth Wayne told KTLA-TV. The car was stolen from his Woodland Hills home Thursday night, the day before his 34th birthday.
“You work so hard for this and people come and take it away from you,” he said.
Surveillance video showed two men walking up to a teal green 1962 Chevrolet Impala convertible that was parked in front of the home's garage.
It appears they tried to hot-wire the car, but Wayne said the car's hydraulics were customized, along with 12 batteries, which may have confused them.
“I think they didn't really know what hydraulics were and what was going on there. And when they pulled the cable, the charger, the positive and negative, they hit it and sparks went everywhere. '' he explained.
He said that while the car was being repaired, some parts were missing, which prevented him from taking it home.
Instead, the video showed one thief yelling at another to force his way into his car.
“It's really disgusting that these punks are out here doing this,” Wayne continued. “They didn't know how to open the hood of an Impala, so they bent the grille to open it, and as you can see in the video, the grille broke.”
Wayne's birthday was clearly ruined because of the theft.
“That's not the kind of thing you want to deal with on your birthday,” he concluded.
