Podcast host Joe Rogan slammed Democratic California Gov. Gavin Newsom on Thursday, condemning comments Newsom has made amid devastating wildfires that are still active.
The fires started in the Los Angeles County coastal town of Pacific Palisades and then spread to Altadena, near Eaton Canyon. “joe rogan experience' host criticized Newsom's inappropriate behavior and timing of his comments, especially as affected families grapple with the complete loss of their homes and personal memories.
“The governor was giving a creepy speech and talking about speculators coming in, and what he was going to do with the land of the burned down houses, which is still only 6% in. He We did this little dance where I was talking to the governor of Hawaii about what to do. We had some ideas,” Logan said.
Logan also said there are broader mismanagement issues with California's approach to wildfire prevention and response. He criticized the state for not taking preventive measures such as clearing brush and managing reservoirs.
“Fire insurance has been pulled out of California the same way 69% of fire insurance has been pulled out of California because this is just too crazy. It's not like you're clearing the brush. That's 1,100 dollars saved by just clearing out the brush and filling the reservoir. The million gallon reservoir was completely empty. Why didn't you fix it? Logan asked. Newsom has come under heavy criticism online for his bizarre shuffling during interviews on local television as Los Angeles County battles wildfires. On Monday, the governor appeared on the Fox affiliate in Los Angeles to discuss the crisis in the charred ruins.
Newsom beamed and shimmied his shoulders as he mentioned the possibility that real estate speculators were targeting fire-stricken areas.
Logan said Newsom's behavior was “disgusting.”
