Thousands Chant ‘Death to America’ at Iran President’s Funeral

Iran held the second of a week-long funerals for President Ebrahim Raisi and Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian on Wednesday, with thousands gathering to chant “Death to America!” and “Death to Israel!” in honour of the fallen officials.

Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Khamenei led prayers himself on Wednesday, praising Raisi as “noble and dedicated” and mourning his untimely death.

Raisi, Amir Abdullahian and six others died Sunday in a helicopter crash as they were returning from a diplomatic mission in nearby Azerbaijan. Iranian authorities have announced that they will investigate the circumstances of the crash, but have not publicly ruled out that it was an accident as it occurred in a mountainous forest area during bad weather. It was unclear at press time why the presidential helicopter was allowed to fly through heavy fog and rain.

Iran on Tuesday held its first funeral for an official in Tabriz, Iran’s eastern Azerbaijan province, where the helicopter crashed. At the time, Iran’s state propaganda agency claimed that “millions” had gathered to hear Interior Minister Ahmad Wahidi praise the late president and top diplomat. Iranian state broadcaster Press TV again claimed on Wednesday that crowds “in the millions” had gathered for Raisi.

The footage, orchestrated by Iran’s Islamist regime, contrasts sharply with widespread reports on Sunday and Monday that Iranians were openly celebrating Raisi’s death. After his death was confirmed, videos were released of unidentified people setting off fireworks and sharing sweets — evidence of Raisi’s brutal and cruel legacy. Across the diaspora, Iranian exiles openly celebrated his death.

Vahid Majid, head of Iran’s Cyber Police announced His office announced Tuesday it would launch an investigation into individuals suspected of sharing “false and derogatory” content about Raisi online. Iranians widely shared comedic memes on Sunday and Monday mocking Raisi’s death, including jokes predicting that the Iranian regime would blame Israel for the helicopter crash.

Several Reports On Wednesday it emerged that Iranians had received threatening cellphone messages demanding that they attend an event in Tehran, indicating that the administration believes further incitement is needed to get Iranians to attend in large numbers.

Raisi was trained as a cleric and spent most of his career as a prosecutor in Iranian politics, ensuring the execution of thousands of non-violent dissidents. Raisi was a member of Iran’s “death committees” in the 1980s, where he 5,000 and 30,000 During his presidency, which began in 2021, Raisi focused his administration on women’s rights and the killing of student protesters enraged by the killing of Mahsa Amini, a 22-year-old woman who was bludgeoned to death in September 2022 over Iran’s “moral values.” Police accused her of wearing the hijab incorrectly. A UN report released in March estimated that Raisi’s administration killed more than 550 people in the Mahsa Amini uprising.

“Dear Mr. Raisi knew no tirelessness” Press TV Quote Ayatollah Khamenei said this while leading the funeral prayer for the president.

picture broadcast At Wednesday’s funeral, a crowd could be seen chanting “Death to America!” According to Khamenei’s prayers. Chants of “Death to Israel!” were followed by statements from Hamas’s head of politics, Ismail Haniyeh, who had been invited to address the crowd.

The Sunni jihadist terrorist organization Hamas relies heavily on Iranian funds to finance mass abductions, rocket attacks, and massacres. A Hamas spokesperson said on October 7 that the group received “direct support” from Iran in its attacks, which that day killed an estimated 1,200 people, abducted 250, and carried out widespread attacks on Israeli civilians. He claimed that atrocities had been committed.

Apart from Haniyeh’s funeral, Khamenei held a private reception in which he reiterated Iran’s genocidal intent to destroy Israel.

“God’s promise will be fulfilled in the formation of a Palestinian state from the river to the sea,” Khamenei reportedly told Haniyeh. “From the river to the sea” refer to the Jordan River and the Mediterranean Sea, a body of water that borders all of Israel.

Khamenei also used the occasion to celebrate the chaos caused in the United States by Hamas supporters on university campuses.

“Who would have believed that one day pro-Palestinian slogans and Palestinian flags would be raised at American universities?” the regime’s Tasnim news agency said. Quote Ayatollah Khamenei said to Haniya:

Press TV reported that in addition to Haniyeh, a senior representative of another Iranian proxy terrorist organization, Hezbollah, was also present at the event.

Radio Free Europe/Radio Liberty (RFE/RL) I got it. Although Iran’s proxy terrorist groups attended in large numbers, no Western heads of government attended the funeral, nor did any of Raisi’s living predecessors, including his immediate predecessor, former President Hassan Rouhani. There wasn’t. Former President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad, who had attempted to run against Raisi in the 2021 elections but was unable to receive approval from the Supreme Leader, was also absent.
