Thunder now favored in wild series with Mavericks ahead of Game 5

It’s been a back-and-forth series, but the Thunder have the edge over the Mavericks heading into a crucial Game 5 on Wednesday night.

Oklahoma City is the -148 favorite to advance to the Western Conference Finals at FanDuel Sportsbook after coming from behind to win Game 4 in Dallas and finishing the series 2-2.

Oddsmakers have struggled to pinpoint which team will win the series, with both teams switching places as favorites at certain points.

Before the series started, the Thunder were a close favorite at -115 to win the championship, with the Mavericks right behind them at -105.

OKC jumped to -300 with a Game 1 win and appeared to take control of the series, but Dallas came back a few days later with a road upset against the Thunder and took home court advantage.

After winning Game 3, it looked like the Mavericks would take control at -250, but things turned around again after Monday night’s game.

The series returns to Oklahoma City on Wednesday night, with the Thunder currently the 4.5-point favorites to win.

Whoever advances to the West Finals will likely lose to the winner of the Nuggets-Timberwolves game, with Denver leading 3-2 after a 112-97 win in Game 5 on Wednesday.

As the series swayed, Denver and Minnesota swapped places as the favorites to advance through the conference, with the Timberwolves getting off to a spectacular 2-0 start and becoming the favorites, winning two at Minnesota and ending the series. The Nuggets took the reins.

Denver is currently a -125 heavy favorite to return to the NBA Finals.

The Thunder are currently +800 points away from winning the NBA championship, while the Mavericks are +1500 points away.

The Celtics, who beat the Cavaliers 3-1 in the second round entering Wednesday’s Game 5, remain the favorites to win at -135.
